The Papercut Kyoto has been burning a hole in my Pattern Stash for ages now. I bought it some time ago at a show inspired by one of our lovely customers Nicky who had made a gorgeous version from one of our fabrics.
The pattern instructions are simple and easy to follow and tracing it is super easy with the black on brown pattern paper.
The construction is straight forward and it comes together quite quickly. I had carried out a lot of research on line prior to choosing my fabric, looking at how different fabrics worked with the pattern. When this gorgeous Lady McElroy Marl Polka Viscose Jersey came in, I knew straight away that it was just what I needed for the Kyoto.
Viscose Jersey is a dream to sew with and the neckband went in with ease and was the perfect size so there were no adjustments made for this at all. I've had some really lovely comments about my Kyoto. I actually think it is the nicest casual top I have ever made and worn. Its super comfy and with the lovely sleeve frills it feels like I'm still making an effort.
Recently I have been inspired to make it minus the frills by Instagrams Carrie Can Make It. I had never thought of doing this at all and it looks fantastic and super comfy! Watch this space for my next Kyoto!
