Vogue 9197 made using our John Kaldor Blush Scuba

Sunday 7th April 2019

I came across this amazing pattern on line and was also inspired to go ahead and make this wonderful dress by the amazing Sewing Blogger Riva La Diva, who made an amazing Scuba Version. I absolutely love Scuba, it is an amazing fabric to wash, wear and sew with. I chose this vibrant John Kaldor Blush Floral Scuba as I really wanted something that was a show stopper of a fabric for this dress. I made the dress to go to a Black Tie Ball and let me tell you I felt a million dollars in it. I felt so confident and well dressed for the occasion and yet this dress is like wearing secret pyjamas,…

Pattern Clash Coco

Thursday 31st January 2019

This make was totally inspired by a Boden Top that my Daughters both have. When I first saw it on their Website, I thought to myself I want one of those for myself! The seed was sewn and over the coming weeks I mulled over the make and realised that the garment could be made from remnants. This make was made using two fabrics measuring between 70 and 75 centimetres. I had a look through what I had remnant wise and whilst going through them these two fabrics jumped out together and provided me with what I think has ended up a really complimentary clash! I opted for our Pretty Flowers Pink …

Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers made by Adelle

Friday 18th January 2019

Hello, I'm Adelle and I am on a mission to create a handmade wardrobe. I'm so excited to be asked to review this fabric for the Material Girl Laura blog. The Fabric I've struggled finding cotton sateen in the past with the correct ratio of stretch with structure. I look for a cotton that has a good amount of stretch to give some room for me to move but enough structure to give that clean tailored look. This Lady McElroy Fruits Of The Forest Stretch Cotton Sateen contains 3% spandex and is the perfect choice for a pair of trousers. The pattern consists of a woodland scene, with flowers, birds and insects and the quality of print makes me confident that…

The perfect Christmas Party Dress

Friday 21st December 2018

When I set out making the Sew Over It Betty Dress I never realised I would fall head over heels in love with it. I felt like a million dollars in this dress. It is perfect for a Party, Special Meal or Wedding. I decided on making it in the John Kaldor Coffee Stretch Crepe as I wanted something really special with that wow factor that would make me feel like I had bought the dress from somewhere like Reiss or Ted Baker. That is exactly what I got with this fabric. It feels like such a polished version of the Betty Dress. This…

New Craft House Winter Party

Saturday 8th December 2018

We had so much fun together at the New Craft House Party. I met some lovely people and me and my friends had a super time. I made a True Bias Ogden Cami made in Atelier Brunette Stardust Night Double Cotton Gauze and a Sew Over It Circle Skirt made in a Velvet Upholstery fabric. I think because it was velvet and a bit more bulkier maybe, it didn't fit at first so I cut about 3/8" off the top of the skirt and reattached the waistband and it fit really well then.…
