Simple Sew Juliette Dress Hack

Wednesday 4th September 2019

I had wanted to make the Juliette for a long time and had agonised over what to make it in. I had so many shortlists fabrics for it but in the end I settled for our Animal Print Wine Viscose Twill. When using Viscose I have recently switched to using Microtex needles instead of Sharps needles as they seem to eliminate the risk of getting any pulls in the fabric. This fabric sewed up a dream ! …

Deer and Doe Myosotis Dress by Vicky aka @sewlittlesparrow

Saturday 6th July 2019

Hi Folks I'm lucky enough to be friends with the lovely Laura and along with a few other ladies we had been on an eventful day out to a sewing meet up back in January (I won't bore you with the full story why it was eventful but it involved the RAC!) It was my turn to drive and after dropping off the rabble following a day of fabric shopping I noticed a bag left on the back seat. Laura had bought along a piece of fabric to show to one of the group but had left it in my car. Thankfully…

My Dressmakers Ball Frock Vogue V9253

Wednesday 27th March 2019

Vogue V9253 made using our Lady McElroy Serengeti Vogue Linen Look Viscose! Gosh this Dress has got to be the most deliberated make I have ever made. I have chewed the ears off of several of my friends about it including my Husband, who might I add is amazing at helping you to make a decision as he does not hold back with his critique! So much so that I'm considering advertising his services. LOL! Let's talk about the fabric choice now. What a rollercoaster that's been! I had settled on making it in the Lady McElroy Foliage Canopy Crepe, I failed to take the required amount…

Papercut Kyoto

Saturday 16th February 2019

The Papercut Kyoto has been burning a hole in my Pattern Stash for ages now. I bought it some time ago at a show inspired by one of our lovely customers Nicky who had made a gorgeous version from one of our fabrics. The pattern instructions are simple and easy to follow and tracing it is super easy with the black on brown pattern paper. The construction is straight forward and it comes together quite quickly. I had carried out a lot of research on line prior to choosing my fabric, looking at how different fabrics worked with the…

Pattern Clash Coco

Thursday 31st January 2019

This make was totally inspired by a Boden Top that my Daughters both have. When I first saw it on their Website, I thought to myself I want one of those for myself! The seed was sewn and over the coming weeks I mulled over the make and realised that…

Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers made by Adelle

Friday 18th January 2019

Hello, I'm Adelle and I am on a mission to create a handmade wardrobe. I'm so excited to be asked to review this fabric for the Material Girl Laura blog. The Fabric I've struggled finding cotton sateen in the past with the correct ratio of stretch with structure. I look for a cotton that has a good amount of stretch to give some room for me to move but enough structure to give that clean tailored look. This Lady McElroy Fruits Of The Forest Stretch Cotton Sateen contains 3% spandex and is the perfect choice for…

New Craft House Winter Party

Saturday 8th December 2018

We had so much fun together at the New Craft House Party. I met some lovely people and me and my friends had a super time. I made a True Bias Ogden Cami made in Atelier Brunette Stardust Night Double Cotton Gauze and a Sew Over It Circle Skirt made in a Velvet Upholstery fabric. I think because it was velvet and a bit more bulkier maybe, it didn't fit at first…

Nina Lee Moselle Ruffle Dress

Sunday 19th August 2018

I was inspired by so many people on Instagram making this pattern, notably Rocco Sienna and Robins Nest, If you don't follow these lovely ladies you must! I really had to get on and get mine ready for my holiday. I knew exactly which fabric I would be using I just needed to get to work. Unfortunately when I should have been sewing this last minute quick sew I was in the dealership having a fault fixed on my car so it never made it…
