To begin with, I was so humbled when Laura asked me to pick a fabric and review it. I've purchased loads from her fabulous shop and each piece of fabric I've bought prior to this review has been a true testament of excellent service and quality and this coral viscose is no…

Sew Over It Vintage Shirt Dress made using our Antique Floral Black Pima Cotton Lawn

Sunday 5th July 2020
_claires_creations_

I am really late to the party when it comes to the Sew Over It vintage Shirt Dress and I'm not really sure why because it certainly didn't disappoint. I am a big fan of shirt dresses, I love that you can dress them up or down and they are definitely a wardrobe staple. When I got this beautifully soft pima cotton from Laura, I knew had to do this fabric justice and the Sew Over It Vintage Shirt Dress was just the right pattern.…

To begin with I have to say that every fabric purchase from Laura has been made up within weeks sometimes days from arriving. She selects the most amazing fabrics to feed our fabric passion. Simply Sewing Magazine Matilda Dress

Wednesday 5th February 2020

Its funny what catches our eye isn't it? Take this pattern for instance, it had been in my stash for absolutely ages, completely flying under my radar and waiting hopefully to be unleashed from the packet. It wasn't until the lovely Donna, aka The Modern Maker on Instagram, had posted a gorgeous leopard print version she had made, that I noticed this lovely pattern. Its everything I love in a dress. Its midi length, long sleeved and the expandable waist courtesy of the fabric drawstring belt means its a diners delight! Sewing up this dress is super easy. The only change I had to make was to gather the sleeves a little to get them in because they were…

Simple Sew Juliette Dress Hack

Wednesday 4th September 2019

I had wanted to make the Juliette for a long time and had agonised over what to make it in. I had so many shortlists fabrics for it but in the end I settled for our Animal Print Wine Viscose Twill. When using Viscose I have recently switched to using Microtex needles instead of Sharps needles as they seem to eliminate the risk of getting any pulls in the fabric. This fabric sewed up a dream ! It's such a lovely fabric to sew with. As with all remotely slippery fabrics I choose to both pin and weight down my pattern pieces whilst cutting out.…

Saturday 6th July 2019

Hi Folks I'm lucky enough to be friends with the lovely Laura and along with a few other ladies we had been on an eventful day out to a sewing meet up back in January (I won't bore you with the full story why it was eventful but it involved the RAC!) It was my turn to drive and after dropping off the rabble following a day of fabric shopping I noticed a bag left on the back seat. Laura had bought along a piece of fabric to…
